Richland Township Fire Department (Fairfield County)
Richland Township, located in eastern Fairfield County, is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. Richland Township is a rural community with a mix of light-density residential development, farm land, open green spaces, and limited commercial occupancies. The Richland Township Fire Department is a full-service agency operating from one station with 20 to 30 part-time and volunteer personnel. The department serves 2,200 residents in an area spanning approximately 24 square miles, which includes the Villages of Rushville and West Rushville.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Township Board of Trustees. This position requires an experienced and enthusiastic individual who can provide hands-on leadership and the ability to develop strong working relationships and expand recruitment efforts. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication skills and have experience in volunteer and part-time fire and EMS agencies.
Requirements include a minimum of 5 years fire and EMS experience and the following State of Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, EMT-B, and a valid Ohio operator’s license. Fire safety inspector and fire or EMS instructor certification is preferred. Completion of Fire Officer I and II training or the ability to complete the training in the first year is required. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including physical examination and drug screening.
The salary for this part-time position is $20.00 per hour with a minimum of 15 to 20 hours expected each week plus availability for emergency response as may be needed.
