The Passing of Captain Tim Burns

The Glendale Fire Department is sad to announce the passing of current Glendale Fire Department Captain and West Chester Township Fire Department Firefighter Paramedic Tim Burns. Tim lost his life to cancer that was attributed to his work in the fire service. His death is considered a “Line of Duty Death” and will be treated as such.

Tim’s fire service history started at the New Burlington Fire Department where his dad was also a firefighter. He first was one of the Explorers and then as a volunteer. When Springfield Township took over the department he stayed on as a part time firefighter. Tim also worked part time for Colerain, Springdale, Liberty Township, West Chester, and Mercy Medics. West Chester offered Tim a full-time position where he remained until his illness. A few years ago, Tim joined with the Glendale Fire Department to help give back and to help show the way to our young people. Since Glendale has others that were a part of the New Burlington Department with Tim, it made it a comfortable fit.

The visitation will be at the Springdale Nazarene Church on Monday May 22nd from 4:00PM-8:00PM

***************PROCESSION HAS BEEN CHANGED***********

The West Chester Township FD has changed the funeral procession for Captain/FF/Medic Tim Burns and will now be closed for all units except his former and current fire departments. The procession is leaving the funeral home at 8:00am Tuesday, May 23rd. We are asking for uniform personnel to be at the church for the arrival of the casket and to provide a grand entrance for Tim and his family by lining the entrance drive with color guards and fire personnel. His previous departments will be leading the procession, and will be staged at Hilltop Plaza at 7:30am. The plan is to arrive at the church at 9:00am-9:15am. The funeral will start at 10:00am.

Please have all uniformed personnel report to the church.

Please keep Tim’s family in your prayers.

Rest in Peace Captain Tim Burns……….

We’ll take it from here…
